The Benefits of Sauna vs Cold Plunge for Hospitality Professionals

By Ross Helen

I’m coming into my third season of saunas and cold plunges, and I will tell you, it’s one of my favourite lifestyle habits.

The benefits, combined with eating whole foods and reducing sugar intake, have not only helped with muscle recovery, but mostly my mental health and overall ability to handle daily stressors.

Working late-night shifts in the hospitality industry can take a serious toll on your health if you don’t find ways to unwind that support your body rather than deplete it.

Many decompress after a shift by drinking alcohol or late-night eating, leading to very little sleep. A common pattern in the industry that easily becomes a cycle.

If you work in hospitality or any high-stress environment, finding a ritual that helps you transition out of “work mode” is essential. Whether it’s a sauna session, a cold plunge, meditation, or simply a nourishing meal and a good night’s sleep — those small, consistent choices make all the difference in how you show up the next day.

In my latest free downloadable guide, you’ll learn all about the differences and benefits of saunas vs. cold plunges, and how to decide which one fits your lifestyle best, or how to combine both for maximum results.
